Letters patent amending the General Campaign Star and General Service Medal Regulations, 2009

Whereas, by letters patent issued on May 21, 2004, the General Campaign Star and the General Service Medal were instituted and created in Canada;

Whereas, those letters patent ordained, directed and appointed that the award of the General Campaign Star and the General Service Medal shall be provided for by the General Campaign Star and General Service Medal Regulations annexed to the letters patent;

Whereas letters patent did issue on February 17, 2010 repealing the General Campaign Star and General Service Medal Regulations and replacing them with the General Campaign Star and General Service Medal Regulations, 2009;

And whereas it is desirable and Our Privy Council for Canada has advised that letters patent do issue amending the General Campaign Star and General Service Medal Regulations, 2009;

Therefore, His Excellency the Governor General in Council, on the recommendation of the Prime Minister, hereby orders that letters patent do issue, under the Great Seal of Canada, amending the General Campaign Star and General Service Medal Regulations, 2009 in accordance with the annexed schedule.

GREETING:

Whereas, by Our letters patent issued on May 21, 2004, We instituted and created in Canada the General Campaign Star and the General Service Medal for the purpose of according recognition to any person enrolled in, attached to or working with the Canadian Forces who participated in or provided direct support on a full-time basis to operations in the presence of an armed enemy;

Whereas, by those letters patent, We ordained, directed and appointed that the award of the General Campaign Star and the General Service Medal shall be provided for by the General Campaign Star and General Service Medal Regulations annexed to the letters patent;

Whereas, letters patent did issue on February 17, 2010 repealing the General Campaign Star and General Service Medal Regulations and replacing them with the General Campaign Star and General Service Medal Regulations, 2009;

And whereas it is desirable and Our Privy Council for Canada has advised that letters patent do issue amending the General Campaign Star and General Service Medal Regulations, 2009;

Now know you that We, by and with the advice of Our Privy Council for Canada, do by these presents amend the General Campaign Star and General Service Medal Regulations, 2009 in accordance with the annexed schedule.

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, We have caused these Our Letters to be made Patent and the Great Seal of Canada to be affixed.

WITNESS:

Our Right Trusty and Well-beloved David Johnston, Chancellor and Principal Companion of Our Order of Canada, Chancellor and Commander of Our Order of Military Merit, Chancellor and Commander of Our Order of Merit of the Police Forces, Governor General and Commander-in-Chief of Canada.

AT OUR GOVERNMENT HOUSE, in Our City of Ottawa, this twenty-third day of March in the year of Our Lord two thousand and eleven and in the sixtieth year of Our Reign.

SCHEDULE

1. Paragraph 4(b) of the French version of the General Campaign Star and General Service Medal Regulations, 2009 is replaced by the following:

  • b) d’une part, est un membre d’une force alliée qui était intégré aux Forces canadiennes, notamment en vertu d’un programme d’échange, et, d’autre part, satisfait aux critères applicables au membre des Forces canadiennes visé à l’alinéa a).

2. Paragraph 7(a) of the French version of the Regulations is replaced by the following:

  • a) les visites et inspections aux fins de leadership, de commandement ou de familiarisation;

Whereas, by letters patent issued on July 31, 2002, the South-West Asia Service Medal was instituted and created in Canada;

Whereas, those letters patent ordained, directed and appointed that the award of the South-West Asia Service Medal shall be provided for by the South-West Asia Service Medal Regulations annexed to the letters patent;

Whereas letters patent did issue on February 17, 2010 repealing the South-West Asia Service Medal Regulations and replacing them with the South-West Asia Service Medal Regulations, 2009;

And whereas it is desirable and Our Privy Council for Canada has advised that letters patent do issue amending the South-West Asia Service Medal Regulations, 2009;

Whereas, by those letters patent, We ordained, directed and appointed that the award of the South-West Asia Medal shall be provided for by the South-West Asia Service Medal Regulations annexed to the letters patent;

Whereas, letters patent did issue on February 17, 2010 repealing the South-West Asia Service Medal Regulations and replacing them with the South-West Asia Service Medal Regulations 2009;

And whereas it is desirable and Our Privy Council for Canada has advised that letters patent do issue amending the South-West Asia Service Medal Regulations, 2009;

Now know you that We, by and with the advice of Our Privy Council for Canada, do by these presents amend South-West Asia Service Medal Regulations, 2009 in accordance with the annexed.
