APPLICATION TO ESTABLISH A CANADIAN BRANCH

Notice is hereby given that PACIFIC LIFE RE LIMITED, an entity incorporated under the laws of the United Kingdom, intends to file with the Superintendent of Financial Institutions, on or after February 16, 2015, an application under subsection 574(1) of the Insurance Companies Act (Canada) for an order approving the insuring in Canada of risks, under the English name Pacific Life Re Limited and the French name Pacific Life, Compagnie de Réassurance Limitée. In particular, PACIFIC LIFE RE LIMITED intends to conduct in Canada life reinsurance business, including the provision of life reinsurance and accident and sickness reinsurance. The head office of the company is located in London, United Kingdom, and its Canadian chief agency will be located in Toronto, Ontario.

LETTERS PATENT OF CONTINUANCE

Notice is hereby given that Peoples Trust Company, incorporated under the Trust and Loan Companies Act (Canada) with its head office in Vancouver, British Columbia, intends to make an application pursuant to section 35 of the Bank Act (Canada) for the approval of the Minister of Finance (Canada) for letters patent continuing Peoples Trust Company as a bank under the Bank Act (Canada), with the legal names “Peoples Bank of Canada” in the English form and “Banque Peoples du Canada” in the French form. Subject to the approval of the Minister of Finance (Canada), the Trust and Loan Companies Act (Canada) shall cease to apply to Peoples Trust Company as of the date the letters patent of continuance take effect.

Note: The publication of this Notice should not be construed as evidence that letters patent will be issued to Peoples Trust Company to continue as a bank. The granting of letters patent will be dependent upon the application review process under the Bank Act (Canada) and the discretion of the Minister of Finance.

RELEASE OF ASSETS

Pursuant to section 651 of the Insurance Companies Act (Canada) [the “Act”], notice is hereby given that TIG Insurance Company intends to apply to the Superintendent of Financial Institutions (Canada) on or after March 16, 2015, for an order authorizing the release of the assets that it maintains in Canada in accordance with the Act.

Any policyholder or creditor in respect of TIG Insurance Company’s insurance business in Canada opposing that release is invited to file an opposition by mail to the Office of the Superintendent of Financial Institutions (Canada), Legislation and Approvals Division, 255 Albert Street, Ottawa, Ontario K1A 0H2, or by email at approvalsandprecedents@osfi-bsif.gc.ca, on or before March 16, 2015.
