Kent MacDougall Remission Order

P.C. 2012-621 May 3, 2012

His Excellency the Governor General in Council, considering that the collection of the tax is unjust, on the recommendation of the Minister of National Revenue, pursuant to subsection 23(2) (see footnote a) of the Financial Administration Act (see footnote b), hereby remits tax in the amounts of $494.73, $1,265.89 and $268.77 for the 1998, 1999 and 2000 taxation years, respectively, and penalties of $39.58, $818.77 and $43.00 for the 1998, 1999 and 2000 taxation years, respectively, and all relevant interest on the tax and penalties, paid or payable under Part Ⅰ of the Income Tax Act (see footnote c) by Kent MacDougall.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Order.)

This Order remits a portion of the income tax and penalties, and all relevant interest on the tax and penalties, paid or payable by Kent MacDougall in respect of the 1998, 1999 and 2000 taxation years.

Mr. MacDougall was unable to address his tax debt and penalties for the 1998, 1999 and 2000 taxation years due to financial difficulties. Interest charges have increased the debt to a level where paying it would cause extreme financial hardship for Mr. MacDougall.
