Notice is hereby given that the notice bearing the above-mentioned title published in the Canada Gazette, Part Ⅰ, Vol. 146, No. 52, Saturday, December 29, 2012, on page 3642, contained an error. The section “Part 1, Information to Provide Respecting Substances Listed in Part 1 of Schedule 1” was printed twice and should not have been repeated from pages 3663 to 3665.

NOTICE OF VACANCY
FINANCIAL CONSUMER AGENCY OF CANADA
Commissioner (full-time position)
Salary range: From $226,100 to $266,000
Location: National Capital Region
The Financial Consumer Agency of Canada (FCAC) is an independent body working to protect and inform consumers of financial products and services. The FCAC is responsible for promoting the adoption by financial institutions of policies and procedures designed to implement the consumer-oriented provisions of federal financial institution statutes and of ministerial terms and conditions and undertakings; supervising financial institutions' compliance with those provisions, terms and conditions and undertakings; monitoring and evaluating trends and emerging issues that could impact financial consumers; monitoring the industry's self-regulatory initiatives designed to protect the interests of consumers and small businesses; promoting consumer awareness of financial consumer issues; and fostering, in cooperation with stakeholders, an understanding of financial services and issues related to financial services.
The Commissioner is responsible for the management and operations of the organization. The Commissioner acts as the principal representative of the Agency with senior federal and provincial government officials, national and international regulatory agencies, the regulated industry, and other stakeholders.
The successful candidate should possess a degree from a recognized university in business, public administration, economics or law, or an acceptable combination of relevant education, job-related training and/or experience. A graduate degree in one of these disciplines would be considered an asset.
The qualified candidate would have executive level management experience in a private or public sector organization, including human and financial resources, with demonstrated success in leading change or new initiatives. The preferred candidate would have experience in developing and maintaining relationships with senior officials from government as well as public and private sector organizations. Experience in the interpretation and application of legislation and regulatory requirements would be considered an asset. Experience with the operation and conduct of a regulatory agency, a financial institution or another organization operating in a regulatory environment, experience in contributing to financial sector policy discussions and experience in reporting to or serving on a board of directors would also be considered assets.
The preferred candidate would have knowledge of the mandate and activities of the FCAC as well as of the legislative framework in which it operates. Knowledge of the financial sector and the regulatory and supervisory frameworks is required. The qualified candidate would be knowledgeable about market conduct and consumer policy issues, and would also have an understanding of the Canadian public policy priorities.
The ideal candidate would be able to build and maintain effective relationships with a broad range of stakeholders at a senior level. The candidate's ability to undertake public outreach and to manage and motivate to effect change and achieve positive outcomes is necessary. The suitable candidate would be able to promote a proactive supervisory approach and take a forward-looking approach in evaluating emerging issues. Superior communication skills, both written and oral, and the ability to act as a spokesperson for the FCAC in dealing with stakeholders, the media, public institutions, governments and other organizations are also essential.
To achieve the FCAC's objectives and carry out its mandate, the Commissioner should possess strong leadership and interpersonal skills as well as sound judgement. He or she would also adhere to high ethical standards and integrity, have initiative, and be an engaged and resilient leader.
Proficiency in both official languages would be preferred.
The successful candidate must reside in or be willing to relocate to the National Capital Region or to a location within reasonable commuting distance. He or she must also be willing to travel regularly within Canada and abroad to attend meetings and participate in international forums in support of the Agency's activities.
The chosen candidate may not beneficially own, directly or indirectly, any shares of any financial institutions, bank holding company, insurance holding company or of any other body corporate, however created, carrying on any business in Canada that is substantially similar to any business carried on by any financial institution.
