Notice is hereby given that, pursuant to section 587.1 of the Insurance Companies Act (Canada), CMFG Life Insurance Company (formerly CUNA Mutual Insurance Society) [“CMFG”] intends to make an application to the Superintendent of Financial Institutions (Canada), on or after July 29, 2013, being 30 days after the date of publication of this notice, for approval to cause itself to be reinsured, on an assumption basis, against all risks undertaken by CMFG’s Canadian Branch (the “Canadian Branch”) in respect of its policies in Canada, by CUMIS Life Insurance Company (“CUMIS Life”). CUMIS Life has been administering these policies on behalf of the Canadian Branch since 1977.
The assumption reinsurance agreement and the report of the Independent Actuary are available for inspection at the office of the Chief Agent of the Canadian Branch located at 151 North Service Road, Burlington, Ontario, during regular business hours.
Anyone wishing to obtain a copy of the assumption reinsurance agreement or the report of the Independent Actuary may do so by writing to Craig Marshall, Chief Agent, CMFG Life Insurance Company, 15l North Service Road, Burlington, Ontario L7R 4C2 or by email to craig.marshall@cumis.com.
In January 2012, CUNA Mutual Insurance Society reorganized and the membership rights attaching to its policies (including those of the Canadian Branch) were transferred to CUNA Mutual Holding Company (“Mutual Holdco”). The assumption reinsurance agreement will not affect the membership rights of the Canadian Branch policyholders and these rights will continue with Mutual Holdco while the policies remain active and in force.
