RELEASE OF ASSETS
Pursuant to section 651 of the Insurance Companies Act (Canada) [the “Act”], notice is hereby given that Allstate Insurance Company intends to apply to the Superintendent of Financial Institutions (Canada) on or after November 14, 2015, for an order authorizing the release of the assets that it maintains in Canada in accordance with the Act.
Any policyholder or creditor in respect of Allstate Insurance Company's insurance business in Canada opposing that release is invited to file an opposition by mail to the Office of the Superintendent of Financial Institutions (Canada), Legislation and Approvals Division, 255 Albert Street, Ottawa, Ontario K1A 0H2, or by email at approvalsandprecedents@osfi-bsif.gc.ca, on or before November 14, 2015.
This notice relates solely to the Canadian Branch of Allstate Insurance Company established in 1949 to provide reinsurance with respect to Canadian risks and which has not marketed or sold insurance or reinsurance to unaffiliated entities since 1996. If granted, the order will not impact the operations of other Allstate Insurance Company Canadian entities, including Allstate Insurance Company of Canada, Pafco Insurance Company, Pembridge Insurance Company and Esurance Insurance Company of Canada.

Under paragraph 5(6)(b) of the said Act, Corporation de LACtivité Pêche Lac-Saint-Jean has deposited with the Minister of Transport and in the land registry office located at 755 Saint-Joseph Boulevard, Roberval, Quebec G8H 2L4, under deposit No. 21888284, a description of the site and plans for the construction of 25 spawning habitats for rainbow smelt in Saint-Jean Lake, on the shoal near the remains of Île aux Pins.

However, comments will be considered only if they are in writing and are received not later than 30 days after the date of publication of the last notice. STANDARD LIFE ASSURANCE LIMITED
ASSUMPTION REINSURANCE AGREEMENT
Notice is hereby given that Standard Life Assurance Limited (“SLAL”) intends to make an application to the Superintendent of Financial Institutions (Canada) pursuant to section 587.1 of the Insurance Companies Act (Canada) on or after November 25, 2015, for approval to cause itself to be reinsured, on an assumption basis, against all of the risks undertaken under its policies in Canada, by Manulife Assurance Company of Canada (“MACC”).
Subject to receipt of all government and regulatory approvals, it is currently intended that the proposed transaction will be completed on or after December 30, 2015. It is the intention of SLAL to complete this transaction notwithstanding the non-assignment provisions in the structured settlement annuities and contracts which are included in the policies being reinsured on an assumption basis by MACC.
A copy of the assumption agreement with respect to the proposed transaction and the report of the independent actuary on such transaction will be made available for inspection by policyholders of the Canadian branch of SLAL during regular business hours at the offices of MACC at 1245 Sherbrooke Street West, Montréal, Quebec H3G 1G3, for a 30-day period after the date of publication of this notice. Any policyholder may request a copy of the assumption agreement or the report of the independent actuary by writing to SLAL, c/o the Corporate Secretary of MACC, at the above-mentioned address.
