MARKEL INTERNATIONAL INSURANCE COMPANY LIMITED

APPLICATION TO ESTABLISH A CANADIAN BRANCH

Notice is hereby given that Markel International Insurance Company Limited, an entity incorporated under the laws of England and Wales, which principally carries on business in the United Kingdom, Europe and Asia, intends to file, under section 574 of the Insurance Companies Act (Canada), with the Superintendent of Financial Institutions, on or after September 5, 2023, an application for an order approving the insuring in Canada of risks, under the English name “Markel International Insurance Company Limited” and the French name “Markel compagnie d’assurance internationale limitée”, within the classes of accident and sickness, boiler and machinery, fidelity, legal expenses, liability, property and surety. The head office of the company is located in London, England, and its Canadian chief agency will be located in Toronto, Ontario. Markel International Insurance Company limited is a wholly owned subsidiary of Markel Corporation, which is headquartered in Richmond, Virginia, United States.

PORTFOLIO STEWARDS INC.

APPLICATION TO ESTABLISH AN INSURANCE COMPANY

Notice is hereby given, in accordance with paragraph 25(2) of the Insurance Companies Act (Canada), that Stewardship Alternative Income Fund, an Ontario registered mutual fund trust, together with its portfolio manager, Portfolio Stewards Inc., an Ontario registered investment fund manager, and Paul Tyers and Peggy Tyers, intend to file with the Superintendent of Financial Institutions, on or after September 26, 2023, an application for the Minister of Finance to issue letters patent incorporating a life insurance company offering life and health insurance products. Its head office will be located in Toronto, Ontario.

The proposed insurance company will carry on business in Canada under the legal name Insurance Stewards Inc.

Any person who objects to the proposed incorporation may submit an objection in writing to the Office of the Superintendent of Financial Institutions, 255 Albert Street, 12th Floor, Ottawa, Ontario K1A 0H2, on or before September 26, 2023.

Note: The publication of this notice should not be construed as evidence that the letters patent will be issued to incorporate the life insurance company. The granting of the letters patent will be dependent upon the normal Insurance Companies Act (Canada) application review process and the discretion of the Minister of Finance.
