PROPOSED REGULATORY TEXT
Notice is given that the Governor in Council proposes to make the annexed Regulations Amending the Saskatchewan Uranium Mines and Mills Exclusion Regulations under section 159footnote a of the Canada Labour Code footnote b.
Interested persons may make representations concerning the proposed Regulations within 30 days after the date of publication of this notice. Regulations Amending the Saskatchewan Uranium Mines and Mills Exclusion Regulations
Amendments
1 Paragraph (a) of the definition employment in section 1 of the Saskatchewan Uranium Mines and Mills Exclusion Regulations footnote 1 is replaced by the following:
- (a) the holder of a surface lease to mine or process any uranium-bearing material granted under The Provincial Lands Act, 2016, S.S. 2016, c. P-31.1, or The Forest Resources Management Act, S.S. 1996, c. F-19.1; or
2 (1) The portion of section 3 of the Regulations before paragraph (b) is replaced by the following:
3 The following acts and regulations, as amended from time to time, apply in relation to employment on or in connection with a uranium mine or mill:
- (a) The Boiler and Pressure Vessel Act, 1999, S.S. 1999, c. B-5.1, and The Boiler and Pressure Vessel Regulations, 2017, R.R.S. c. B-5.1 Reg. 2;
(2) Paragraph 3(b) of the Regulations is amended by adding "and" at the end of subparagraph (i) and by replacing subparagraphs (ii) to (iv) with the following:
- (ii) The Electrical Code Regulations, R.R.S. c. E-6.3 Reg. 16;
(3) Paragraphs 3(f) to (h) of the Regulations are replaced by the following:
- (f) The Saskatchewan Employment Act, S.S. 2013, c. S-15.1, except section 5-36 and subsection 5-38(1), and the following regulations made or continued under that Act:
- (i) The Occupational Health and Safety Regulations, 2020, R.R.S. c. S-15.1 Reg. 10, except section 6-21 and Parts 27, 29 and 31,
- (ii) The Radiation Health and Safety Regulations, 2005, R.R.S. c. R-1.1 Reg. 2, and
- (iii) The Mines Regulations, 2018, R.R.S. c. S-15.1 Reg. 8; and
- (g) The Passenger and Freight Elevator Regulations, 2017, R.R.S. c. P-4, Reg. 3.
3 Section 4 of the Regulations is repealed.
Coming into Force
4 These Regulations come into force on the day on which they are published in the Canada Gazette, Part II.
